
MARGUERITE M. McMULLEN
PRESIDENT and CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
An investment professional with over 21 years of experience at New England Research & Management, Inc., Meg has been a keynote speaker at affinity groups and major corporations around the country and abroad, with frequent engagements at universities and professional conferences.
Meg began her long-term career at New England Research & Management, Inc. in 1990 as a securities analyst responsible for the administration of client accounts, daily trading operations, and for conducting investment research in the energy and industrial sectors. She was responsible for the coordination and supervision of the dedicated covered call option writing program for key clients.
Meg obtained partnership in 1996, and is now the President and Chief Executive Officer of the firm. She advises clients around the world and is directly responsible for the portfolio management and trading of all client assets. Meg also oversees the firm’s day-to-day operations, marketing, and research efforts.
Meg is a native of New Berlin, Wisconsin. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin in Madison with a B.A. in Communications. Prior to joining New England Research & Management, Inc., Meg was a portfolio manager at Liberty Financial. Meg’s past work experience also includes investment analyst positions at Scudder, Stevens, and Clark, Strong Funds, and Donaldson, Lufkin, and Jenrette. Meg is a past member of the Securities Analysts Association of Boston and is a member in good standing of the Union League Club of Chicago.
SARA J. FREER
CHIEF COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER
Sara Freer joined New England Research & Management, Inc. in 2006, shortly after the opening of the Chicago office. Prior to joining the firm, Sara worked in both the legal and accounting fields. Sara currently holds the role of Chief Communications Officer and is very active in equity trading, operations, and compliance. Sara and Meg travel together to meet with clients and prospects, building the foundations of the strong relationships that are at the core of all that the firm does.
Sara earned her M.B.A. from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, with concentrations in Finance, General Management, and Managerial and Organizational Behavior. Sara completed B.A. degrees in Business/Economics and Spanish from Wheaton College, where she spent extensive time studying and traveling abroad.
She is a member of the Executives’ Club of Chicago and the Professional Women’s Club of Chicago and is an active supporter of microfinance in the developing world through Opportunity International. She also serves as the Vice President of Marketing for the Union League Club chapter of Toastmasters International.
